BORL has two optical laboratories each equipped with laser class 4 safety installations, optical tables and the needed accessories. We also have several spectrometry instruments, such as e.g. a Perkin Elmer LAMBDA 1050 including integration sphere and temperature control, an ISS Imagent frequency domain spectroscopy instrument, minituare spectrometers from Ocean Optics, a fluorescence plate reader. The laboratory structure of the BORL includes a mechanical shop including two 3D printers, electronic shop, wet lab including fume hood and silicone shop for production of phantoms and microfluidic devices. The latter includes the facilities to cast silicon in moulds and liquid phantom setups to experiment with oxygenation using real haemoglobin. We also have a special room for measurements in human subjects and patients. Since we are part of the Dept. of Neonatology, we have access to its facilities and patients.
