Advanced Biophotonics Research Group

Advanced Biophotonics Research Group focuses on studying light–tissue interactions in biological systems. We aim to employ non-invasive optical methods, such as NIRS and NIROT, for in-vivo sensing and imaging of biodynamics. Bringing together expertise in physics, electrical and biomedical engineering, signal processing, deep learning, and computer science, we strive to design innovative approaches for clinical diagnostics.

Our main projects include:

- Imaging the neonatal brain using the time-domain near-infrared optical tomography (TD NIROT) system Pioneer (approaching clinical testing)

- Developing a novel method to assess adult brain oxygenation through the thick scalp/skull layer (finalization stage)

- Designing the next-generation TD NIROT system for NICU applications (recently initiated)
